State Superintendent of Education Joy Hofmeister has named 70 Oklahoma high school students to her 2022 Student Advisory Council – and one of them is a Wagoner student.

Richie Hardin of Wagoner High School was selected. WHS Superintendent Randy Harris recommended Hardin.

This is the seventh year that the group has come together to assist Hofmeister and the Oklahoma State Department of Education on policy issues.

“These students are some of the best high school leaders in our state, and it is imperative that they get their feedback. The insight we receive from this advice is incredibly valuable, and their thoughtful thinking and fearless vision are essential to our decision making, ”said Hofmeister in a press release.

Students will discuss the problems they face in school and brainstorm solutions. Feedback from the Student Advisory Council has influenced state-level initiatives to provide teachers with professional development in trauma-informed education, replace high school leaving tests with ACT or SAT, and drive planning. academic career, says the press release. .
